The history of HM Machinery:
It all began in 1968, when The Thisted Elektro & Køleteknik electrical installation and service company was founded by HM Mortensen in Thisted. At that time, the main business emphasis was on the sale and repair of electro-motors. In 1977, the name was changed to H.M. Elektro Aps.
In 1979, having seen an opportunity within the sheet metalworking machinery sector, the company commenced with the manufacture of its own range conventional machines. In a very short space of time, the business had switched its main emphasis over on to machine manufacturing, and was now in need of larger production, and handling facilities.
With a significant increase in export demand and in order to better meet the international market needs, the company again changed names, but this time became incorporated under the name of H.M. Production A/S.
In 1994, to support the further development of export sales in the UK, the subsidiary sales company H.M.Production UK Ltd, based on the outskirts of London was formed.
In 1994, H.M. Production also took over theSwedish company Strands Mekaniska
Verkstad a producer of gear-driven vertical drilling machinery, with manufacturing facilities in both Arboga and Rosenfors respectively. In 1997 the name was changed to H.M. Machinery AB.
In 1999 the two Swedish drill manufacturing operations were amalgamated, and the headquarters of the company became Rosenfors. Later in the same year another subsidiary company, H.M. Production A/S, was formed in Norway.
With the H.M. Production business growing rapidly, in order to manage the wide range of activities, the H.M. Group was formed in 1998, a holding company consisting of H.M. Production A/S with all subsidiary companies
and H.M. Automatic A/S.
In 1999 H.M. Holding A/S took over the company Jono Technologi ApS - Grindsted, with all rights to manufacture hydraulic machines for plate-working up to 20 mm in thickness and 4 m in length. It was thought that this hydraulic program would complement the H.M.Production range of conventional lighter-gauge sheet products, and allow them to compete In a sector with significant growth potential.
In 2000 H.M. Holding A/S also took over their long-standing neighbour and subcontractor WK Værktøjs & Maskinfabrik and its the daughter company - WK Tools both based on same the Vilhelmsborgvej business park. This acquistion, was seen to be the first step in the transfer of the manufacture of Hydraulic machines from Grindsted to Thisted.
In 2005 the Scantool Group was presented with the opportunity to take over the HM Group's companies; HM Teknik A/S and HM Machinery A/S in Thisted.
In addition to the takeover of the entire stock at the Thisted factories, HM's sales inventory in Sweden, Germany, and Slovakia was also included in the takeover. Everything was moved to Scantool's factories in Brovst. All rights, drawings, designs, and logos were included in the deal for us to continue the marketing of HM products all over the world.
The well-known HM Logo, with its seven golden balls, symbolises that HM is prepared and ready to meet it's worldwide customers' needs seven days a week, 365 days a year.
HM Machinery A/S continues as an independent company under the Scantool Group now with a new logo fitting in with the Scantool Group's other logos.
The new HM Machinery A/S now supplies the quality HM machines for both the Danish and the foreign markets.
The HM machine copies from China.
Unfortunately, we see that an increasing number of HM machines are now being copied in China, where everything is replicated down to the smallest detail. These machines are being sold under brands similar to HM and the logos and model names, not unlike those of HM. It is therefore, important to be aware that these products
are not original HM machines, with the same high quality finish, and certainty not with the same levels of service or spare parts back-up for the future.
The Scantool Group consists of five companies:
HM Machinery A/S, Scantool A/S, Arboga A/S, KEF-Motor A/S and Scantool Group ApS - all companies are owned by the Nielsen family.
Welcome to HM in the world of Scantool Group
